Portal Guardians -- Demons and Angels
Images of portal guardians are made on the front and the back of door or window panels and according to Thai traditional belief, these images will help to guard the place or ward off harm from evil spirits. These guardians are usually depicted in the front of angels or threatening demons. Each period will have different ways of creating these -- sculpting, casting or drawing.
